In yesterday's conference call for investors, Sanjay Jha - Motorola co-CEO and chief exec of its Mobile Devices division – confirmed the company had sold 2 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2009.
He then said "we are just at the beginning stage of our transition to a smartphone company" before later adding "going forward, we'll continue to tightly manage operating expenses as we 'dial down' in some areas, including feature phones, and redirect resources into smartphone innovation, supporting new product launches and building our brand".
