Online marketplace eBay has reported its fourth-quarter and full-year results for 2012, with annual revenue up 21% to $14.1 billion (around £8.9 billion).
Net income was down 19% to $2.6 billion, although the Q4 2011 figures had been boosted by the company selling its share in Skype.

Revenue for the year was $53.3 billion (around £33.5 billion; down 1.2% from the previous year) and net income was $11.0 billion (down 15% year-on-year).

The ‘phablet’ - larger than a conventional smartphone but smaller than a tablet - is expected to prove very popular with manufacturers and retailers this year.
According to information and analytics provider IHS, worldwide shipments of these devices are expected to reach 60.4 million units this year, up 136% from the 2012 total of 25.6 million phablets.
