At this time of year it’s something of a tradition – certainly within the mobile industry – to make predictions for the year ahead. It’s a trend we’ve followed with The Fonecast… and we’ve done reasonably well over the last few years.
We’ll be making this year’s predictions for 2010 in our programme on 23rd December. Ahead of that, I’ve been listening to our last show of 2008 to see what we thought 2009 would hold for us.

A survey conducted amongst 250 senior executives in the United States on behalf of mobile security company Cellcrypt has shown that the security of mobile phone calls is already being addressed in some form by most of the companies surveyed – although the measures may not be effective.
Three-quarters of organisations had a security policy covering mobile phone calling. However, although 55% of respondents in IT roles thought their business had implemented mobile voice call encryption solutions, only 18% of organisations had actually done so.
