Telefonica culls its TU Me free call and messaging service after a year

Telefónica has announced that it’s closing the TU Me voice-over-IP service next month.

TU Me, which offers free voice calls as well as messaging and photo sharing, was originally launched in May last year. It’s currently available as an Apple iOS, Google Android and BlackBerry application.

Government confirms mobile coverage boost for UK 'black spots'

The UK government has confirmed the parts of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that’ll benefit from its £150 million Mobile Infrastructure Project.

Cornwall, Northumberland, Strabane, Aberdeenshire and Powys are among the areas that will be targeted by the project.

O2 plans UK 4G launch for 29th August

O2 says it’ll be switching on its ‘superfast’ 4G network in London, Leeds and Bradford on 29th August. It’ll then add a further 10 cities by the end of 2013.

The company’s 4G tariffs will cost from £26 per month.
