Visa Europe is enhancing its mobile payment service with two new features: Multi-Currency and Immediate Payments. They’ll be available to any of the organisation’s member banks and payment service providers.
Immediate Payments is being launched in the UK this week, making it possible for consumers to receive money sent from other mobile phones in less than 30 minutes.

A group of technology companies including Microsoft, Nokia and Oracle has complained to the European Commission about Google’s mobile internet strategy.
The 17 companies are calling themselves FairSearch and describe Google’s distribution of the Android platform as “predatory”.

Last March, UK telecoms regulator Ofcom published the findings of its review into ‘bill shock’ caused by unexpectedly high fixed-line and mobile phone bills.
It found that mobile phone customers with ‘pay monthly’ contracts were most likely to suffer an unexpectedly high bill, with the worst cases caused when customers used their phones outside Europe.
