Nokia Comes With Music is saying goodbye to the UK

Nokia’s Comes With Music service – later renamed Ovi Music Unlimited –  is being withdrawn from 27 countries including the UK.

The service was launched in 2008, giving customers a year of unlimited downloads from the Nokia Music Store when they chose a Nokia ‘Comes with Music’ mobile phone.

Sony announces cloud-based music service for the UK

Sony has launched a cloud-based digital music service called ‘Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity’, which will offer access to millions of songs from major labels. The service will let users play music via a variety of internet-connected devices and will be rolled-out to a number of portable Sony devices as well as Android-based mobile handsets.

Two new mobile application challenges launched by the GSMA

The GSMA has created two new mobile application challenges that’ll be rewarded at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.

The first-ever GSMA Band App Audition has the backing of Muse, Faithless, Metric and Eliza Doolittle. It’s looking for innovative mobile app concepts that’ll help the artists to engage with their fans throughout the world.
