Two new mobile application challenges launched by the GSMA

The GSMA has created two new mobile application challenges that’ll be rewarded at the 2011 Mobile World Congress.

The first-ever GSMA Band App Audition has the backing of Muse, Faithless, Metric and Eliza Doolittle. It’s looking for innovative mobile app concepts that’ll help the artists to engage with their fans throughout the world.

The Band App Audition is organised by the GSMA in partnership with the Featured Artists Coalition and the Music Managers Forum. Winners will be announced at the App Planet event at the GSMA Mobile World Congress next February.

In addition, there’s a Brand App Challenge sponsored by Coca-Cola. Developers can create ‘brand apps’ for consumer brands based on the objectives and guidance provided by the individual brands. Winners of this challenge will also be revealed at MWC.
