New UK mobile benchmark says EE is best for data while Three is best for voice

A new survey from testing services company P3 communications has ranked EE as the ‘best in test’, noting that it offered the best national data performance.

Three was ranked second overall but had the best voice performance in the test.

BT has been talking to O2 about acquiring its UK mobile telecoms business

EE is named in some news reports as a potential alternative acquisition

BT has responded to news reports about its possible acquisition of the O2 mobile network from Telefónica UK.

The speculation was first published on a website in Spain, with suggestions that Telefonica could receive a 20% share of BT as part of the multi-million pound deal.

Ofcom plans to release some digital TV spectrum for mobile broadband services

UK communications regulator Ofcom has confirmed its plans to make more radio spectrum available for mobile broadband services.

Following a recent consultation it now aims to release part of the 700MHz frequency band to mobile network operators.

Wireless charging specialist Powermat Technologies has appointed Thorsten Heins as its new Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board.

Mr Heins was CEO and President of BlackBerry before leaving the company when it reorganised a year ago.
