Mobile payment and advertising partnership Weve has announced Pouch, a mobile-based ‘loyalty card’ application.
The first company to trial the scheme is the Eat food group.

Strategy Analytics has published information about the major companies producing applications processors for smartphones during 2013.
It shows that Qualcomm remains the leading producer of smartphone processors and is also the second-largest tablet chip producer as well.

Patents were a very popular topic of conversation last week. Google sold its Motorola Mobility smartphone business to Lenovo but hung on to most of the patents. Does this mean the patents were the most valuable part of the business? Well, when you look at the difference between the original purchase price and the sale price, it seems a reasonable conclusion.

Recent figures released by ABI Research have prompted the market intelligence company to ask whether Google is losing control of the Android ecosystem.
At first glance, Android dominated smartphone shipments for the final quarter of 2013. ABI Research says 77% of the 287 million smartphones shipped in Q4 2013 were running Android.

Apple has announced financial results for the first quarter of its 2014 financial year; the three-month period that ended on 28th December 2013.
Quarterly revenue reached a record $57.6 billion (£34.7 billion) with quarterly net profit of $13.1 billion (£7.9 billion). That’s a 5.7% year-on-year increase in revenue, with profit largely unchanged from the same quarter a year ago.
