The Mobile by Sainsbury’s service, which was set up earlier this month as a joint venture with Vodafone UK, has announced its pricing.
As well as offering a basic ‘pay as you go’ mobile phone service with standard calls at 8p per minute and text messages costing 4p each, there are also three 30-day allowances.

Facebook has reported results for the second quarter of its financial year. Revenue was up 53% year-on-year to $1.81 billion (£1.18 billion), while the Q2 2012 loss was now a $333 million profit.
88% of total revenue ($1.6 billion) was from advertising, with around 41% of this figure coming from mobile ads.

Says it's still on course to exceed one million UK 4G customers this year
EE (Everything Everywhere Ltd) has released its second-quarter and half-year results for 2013.
Service revenue during Q2 2013 fell by 4.4% year-on-year, although the company points out that the figure would have remained stable without roaming and mobile termination rate cuts. Turnover for the quarter was down 2.3% year-on-year.

Yesterday Google announced a new version of its Android mobile platform - Android 4.3 - and a much-rumoured update to its Nexus 7 tablet.

Yesterday evening Apple announced results for the third quarter of its financial year, with revenue up just 1% year-on-year to $35.3 billion and net profit down over 21% to $6.9 billion.
31.2 million iPhones were sold during the April-June period, increasing year-on-year by 20% to a record for that quarter, while iPad sales fell 14% to 14.6 million units.
