The Power Matters Alliance, which is committed to developing an open standard for smart wireless power, has announced that HTC, LG and Samsung have joined as members.
All three manufacturers have also used the rival Qi wireless charging technology in their devices.

Visa Europe is enhancing its mobile payment service with two new features: Multi-Currency and Immediate Payments. They’ll be available to any of the organisation’s member banks and payment service providers.
Immediate Payments is being launched in the UK this week, making it possible for consumers to receive money sent from other mobile phones in less than 30 minutes.

Joyn compatibility due later this year
Libon, the Orange mobile app that offers free VoIP calls along with messaging and voicemail, has now been launched on Android. The iOS version of the app was released last year.
Both apps are available in the UK to customers on any network.

Nokia’s interim report for the first quarter of 2013 showed shipments of its Lumia smartphones were up 27% on the previous quarter to 5.6 million units. It’s expecting even greater sequential growth of these Windows Phone smartphones in the next quarter.
Total smart device shipments were down 49% year-on-year to 6.1 million and other mobile phone volumes were down 21% year-on-year to 55.8 million units.
