Introducing 4G mobile phone services to the UK could help boost the retail economy by around £1.8 billion this year, according to figures compiled by retail analysts Conlumino and published by eBay.
That’s a 113% year-on-year increase in mobile shopping when compared to 2012.

At the end of last year, the total volume of mobile data traffic reached 13,412 petabytes according to ABI Research.
That represents an increase of 69% year-on-year.

In August last year LG Electronics announced it had sold more than five million 4G LTE smartphones worldwide - and just over six months later it’s doubled that figure.
The company says it’s now sold more than 10 million LTE smartphones, having started selling its devices in 2011.

What happened at Mobile World Congress?

We’re back from Mobile World Congress – and what a show it was. Located at a new site that saw more visitors than ever before, the show had everything… except any particularly obvious theme from hardware manufacturers. Last year was the year of the quad-core smartphone, this year there was plenty of incremental innovation but nothing truly startling.
