Customers spend almost half a billion dollars in seven days
Apple customers spent almost half a billion dollars (around £330 million) on mobile applications and in-app purchases during the first week of this year: a new record for the company.

BlackBerry has launched its own Internet of Things (IoT) platform, providing businesses with a cloud-based service that makes it easier to manage IoT applications and devices.
The BlackBerry IoT platform will initially be targeted at the automotive and asset tracking industries.

EE, which is currently talking to BT about a possible takeover deal, says it added 5.7 million customers to its 4G UK network in 2014.
This gives it a total of 7.7 million customers, beating its year-end target of 6 million.

TalkTalk Group, which started life as part of Carphone Warehouse before demerging in 2010, has bought the Tesco broadband and fixed-line voice base from Tesco plc.
This gives it around 75,000 broadband customers and around 20,000 voice customers, which will be transferred to the TalkTalk network.

A new stable-mate for Alcatel OneTouch
TCL Communication, which is the company behind the Alcatel OneTouch brand, has confirmed it is taking control of the Palm brand. It says it’ll create a new US-based Palm Inc. company.
However, the exact timing of the Palm project hasn’t been confirmed.
