A press ad for Orange mobile broadband has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority. The 'top dongle' ad said "The Orange 3G network covers more people in the UK than any other operator"; a statement that the Three network disagreed with. Hutchison 3G UK argued that they had the largest 3G network in the UK, based on population coverage.

Ah, the joys of multiplying by zero. I was reminded of my school maths lessons when I saw a news release from Orange UK this week.
Steve Wallage, Head of Sport Partnerships and Services for Orange UK was quoted as saying “Based on the surge in demand for mobile TV during the Ashes last summer, we expect viewing figures could rocket by at least 74% during the World Cup”.

Nokia has its bicycle-powered mobile phone charger. And now Orange has its 'Power Wellies'; thermoelectric wellington boots that are perfect for summer festivals because they can charge a mobile phone by using heat from your feet.
The prototype footwear, created in collaboration with renewable energy organisation GotWind, uses a sole that converts heat from your feet into an electrical current. It's a phenomenon known as the Seebeck effect. Apparently 12 hours of walking generates an hour of talk time, with hotter feet generating energy more quickly.
