Slow loading and poor optimisation are the two biggest mobile web complaints

A new US-based study by Keynote Competitive Research, part of internet testing & monitoring group Keynote Systems, has found the most-frustrating mobile web experience for smartphone owners is web pages that are slow to load.

Two-thirds of respondents cited this as a recent problem, with ‘website not optimised for smartphone’ named as the next most frustrating issue.

350 million employees will be using their personal mobile devices at work by 2014

Corporate use of personal devices expected to double in 2 years

Juniper Research is forecasting that the ‘bring your own device’ trend will see the number of employee-owned smartphones and tablets used at work more than doubling in the next two years. By 2014 there’ll be 350 million personal mobile devices being used at work, compared to less than 150 million this year.

It means almost 23% of all consumer-owned tablets and smartphones will have a business function as well.

Quarterly results from HTC show revenue down 58%

HTC has published results for the second quarter of its financial year, with revenue of NT$91.04 billion (£1.95 billion) and net income of NT$7.40 billion.

Both figures are up from the previous quarter but down year-on-year.

Vodafone plans new start-up tech incubator in London

Vodafone is planning to help innovative young businesses by opening a new technical facility in the 'Tech City' area of East London.

It follows the opening of Vodafone's xone in Silicon Valley last year and Telefonica's Wayra in London's Tottenham Court Road.

M2M growth helps satellite phone company Iridium

Mobile satellite communications company Iridium Communications has reported its financial results for the second quarter of 2012.

Thanks in part to the estimated lifespan of the company’s satellite constellation being longer than previously expected, net income was up 51% year-on-year to $17.7 million (£11.4 million). Total revenue for Q2 was $97.3 million, up 1% year-on-year.
