Just a few weeks ago WiFi was made available on a number of London Underground stations - yet mobile coverage still stops when you go down the escalator.

So why is it taking so long for us to get mobile phone service on the Tube?

For an insight into some of the challenges and the possible solutions I spoke to Ian Brown, CEO of Axell Wireless. The company is a leader when it comes to providing additional wireless coverage in confined spaces - from tunnels to sports stadiums - and is currently involved in the project to install mobile phone service on the Channel Tunnel.

BlackBerry App World passes three billion application downloads

More than three billion applications have been downloaded from BlackBerry App World since it launched in 2009.

That’s an average of over 2.5 million downloads to smartphones and tablets each day, although usage has increased significantly during the past three years.

Apple fails to disrupt Samsung Galaxy Tab sales in the UK

Samsung has won a UK High Court case after a judge ruled that the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 tablet computers did not infringe Apple’s iPad design.

Both companies were taking legal action; Samsung was after a declaration that its Galaxy Tab devices didn’t infringe Apple designs, while Apple was claiming for infringement.

Location-based search and advertising platform Poynt intends to file for bankruptcy

Poynt Corporation says it’s filed a Notice of Intention to File a Proposal under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (Canada). As a result, the company says it is now in a position to address its obligations to creditors in an orderly and efficient manner.

Calgary-based Poynt, which operates a location-based search and advertising platform, will now send a proposal to its creditors during the next 30 days. Its business will continue as usual during this process.
