Google has acquired PushLife, a three-year-old Canadian company that enables non-Apple mobile devices to synchronise with the iTunes music service.
It also offers syncing with mobile operators' music services; a PushLife app was launched in the UK last year via Virgin Mobile.

Google has bid to acquire Nortel's portfolio of wireless and mobile-related patents. They're being sold by Nortel as part of the company's bankruptcy auction.
In a blog post, Google said it hopes that acquiring the patents would discourage companies from taking legal action against it.

Last year, brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance calculated that Wal-mart was the world's most-valuable brand. Google was in second place, while Vodafone - in 7th place - was the top-ranked telecoms brand.
This year's Brand Finance 'Global 500' report sees Google taking the top spot with its brand now worth over $44 billion. Microsoft was second… and Vodafone, in fifth place, remained the top telecoms brand.
