HM Revenue & Customs has released details of a £250 million VAT fraud that generated its money from the supposed import and export of mobile phones. A number of people were arrested in July 2003, with the first sentences being handed down in 2008, although reporting restrictions prevented details of the crimes being published at the time.
Fifteen people have now been sentenced in six separate trials.

Nokia is planning a software update to resolve battery problems with some versions of its Lumia 800 smartphone.
The company says an update is already being rolled out and another is scheduled for early next year.

Mobile imaging company Scalado says its software is now included in more than 1 billion mobile devices around the world, giving it a third of the world’s mobile imaging market.
The company’s technology is currently licensed to all of the the top five ‘tier 1’ mobile phone manufacturers.
