Towards the end of last year, O2 became the first UK network to pass on 90p for every £1 donated to charity by SMS. (The remaining 10% covered network and third party costs). This move was echoed by a number of other network operators.
It's now giving 100% of text donations to UK charities by covering the costs itself.

Phil Jordan has joined O2 in the new role of UK Chief Information Officer. He reports to UK Chief Technology Officer Derek McManus.
Most recently, Phil was Vodafone's CIO for the UK and Ireland, having been with the company for 12 years.

Telefónica Europe, which bought mobile VoIP company JAJAH in December, has started rolling-out JAJAH-powered IP-based phone services across its O2 businesses in Europe.
The first is international calling service O2 Global Friends, which lets customers in Germany make international calls by dialling a dedicated local number. The call is then routed over the internet without the need for any software downloads or new hardware.
