Google has agreed to acquire Motorola Mobility in a deal worth $12.5 billion. Everything's expected to be finalised towards the end of this year or in early 2012.
In a blog post, CEO Larry Page said "Motorola's total commitment to Android in mobile devices is one of many reasons that there is a natural fit between our two companies."

Sony and LG Electronics are reported to have settled a patent dispute that had created a total of 24 legal cases between the two companies.
Sony had applied to ban the import of certain LG mobile phones into the USA, while LG had responded with a bid to block the import of the PlayStation 3 into Europe.

Facebook has launched a standalone mobile Messenger application for iPhone and Android devices.
It's based on the Facebook Messages service that was launched late last year.
