The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has cleared the potential £12.5 billion sale of EE to BT. A provisional decision was announced in October last year.
It means that the BT/EE merger is now likely to be completed on 29th January.

A new report from wireless analyst firm Berg Insight predicts there’ll be 1 billion cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) subscribers by 2022.
It says the number of cellular M2M customers worldwide increased by 23% last year to a total of 265.2 million.

New EU roaming regulations are expected to cause a drop in mobile roaming revenue for operators in 2017, according to a forecast from Juniper Research.
Annual roaming revenue is predicted to fall by 28% in Europe and by 7% globally: a significant portion of an estimated $52 billion total in the year after next.

Mark Windle, head of marketing at OpenCloud, predicts that this year’s reduction in the number of traditional telecoms operators in some countries will provide an opportunity for other operators to innovate and capture market share in 2016.
He says next year will be a year of rapid change for telecoms… whether it’s MVNO disruption, competitive tariff pricing or simply defence from the ‘dark art’ of hacking.

In October, Ofcom revealed more information about its plans to auction the 2.3GHz and 3.4GHz radio spectrum it had received from the Ministry of Defence.
It planned to start the auction process in December 2015 but is now delaying this until 2016.
