BT is cutting the cost of calling mobile phones

Ofcom's recent reduction of mobile termination rates is bearing fruit at BT. The company is cutting the cost of landline-to-mobile telephone calls from 28th May.

Evening calls will fall from 7p per minute to 5.3p when ringing major UK mobile networks from a BT line, which represents a 24% cut. Daytime calls are down 13% from 13p per minute to 11.3p.

Three UK tops the Ofcom complaints chart for mobile telecom providers

Ofcom has published details of the consumer telecoms complaints it's received between October 2010 and February 2011.

The regulator receives an average of 450 complaints per day about fixed-line, broadband and mobile telecoms providers. Issues include mis-selling, billing errors, lack of service and customer service problems.

Orange UK launches 'mobile landline' service for businesses

Orange has launched a service called Pocket Landline that enables smaller businesses to have a fixed-line telephone number working on a mobile phone. It enables customers to have a location-specific number without the need for an office presence.

Pricing starts from £15+VAT per month.

Consumer Experience report shows how much the UK is relying on mobile phones

Ofcom has just published its fifth annual Consumer Experience Report, which reveals how the UK communications market has developed in recent years.

91% of the UK population now has a mobile phone, compared to 80% in 2006.
