New research from eDigitalResearch and Portaltech Reply shows that 64% of UK smartphone owners are now using their mobile devices to shop online, a number that has quadrupled since June 2010.
44% of smartphone owners said they’d use their devices to browse even more in the coming months.

People with tablets shop more on their devices than PC and smartphone users, according to new research from mobile advertising network InMobi and mobile marketing agency Mobext.
The new report, entitled ‘The Role of Tablets in the Consumer Sales Journey’, contacted more than 8,400 people worldwide. It found that 69% of tablet users had shopped via their device in the last 30 days.

A new report carried out by the Centre for Retail Research and published by retail comparison site Kelkoo says shopping on mobile devices in the UK is set to increase by 53% in the next 12 months, with an estimated £4.5 billion being spent by mobile phone this year.
As a result, the UK will be Europe’s biggest mobile shoppers for the third year running, followed by Germany (£2.7 billion) and France (£1.9 billion).

US-based eCommerce business Shopatron predicts that the percentage of visits to its retail partners from mobile devices will grow to between 18% and 20% by the end of 2012.
It’s seen the number of mobile visits to Shopatron brand partners grow from 6.5% to 12.2% this year.
