The Samsung Mobile Innovator developer forum is discontinuing its Symbian support service from 31st December 2010. The manufacturer remains a member of the Symbian Foundation; last November it said it was committed to a 'multi-OS' strategy after suggestions it was moving away from producing Symbian devices.

Orange is exhibiting current and future motoring-related mobile phone technology at the 2010 Paris Motor Show from tomorrow. It's displaying the Speed’R concept car, which has been designed in partnership with the ESPERA Sbarro School of Design.

A group of researchers from Pennsylvania State University, Duke University and Intel Labs have investigated the behaviour of smartphone applications. After looking at 30 popular Android apps they found that two-thirds of the applications displayed 'suspicious handling' of sensitive data, with half the apps reporting users' locations to advertising servers. In addition, seven applications transmitted the IMEI (serial number) of the phone without any clear consent.

Research company Ovum says data revenue is now the key driver of the UK mobile market and could overtake voice within seven years. The company's latest report says competition is pushing voice prices lower, with revenue from UK voice services expected to fall from £13 billion last year to under £9.5 billion by 2015.

The Smart Bundle monthly plan from Vectone Mobile offers unlimited calls and texts to any UK mobile network, unlimited calls and texts to other Vectone mobiles, and a daily allowance of 10MB mobile data for £40 per month.
