British Airways in discussions to offer mobile broadband at launch

UK-based satellite service operator Inmarsat plc is planning to deploy a combined satellite and air-to-ground network that’ll provide aircraft passengers with mobile broadband connectivity.

It’s ordered a new S-band satellite to work in conjunction with ground-based services.

Samsung partners with Barnes & Noble to produce co-branded Nook tablets

Samsung Electronics America and the Nook Media subsidiary of Barnes & Noble have announced a partnership to develop Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook tablets.

The co-branded tablets will combine Samsung’s Android-powered Galaxy Tab 4 hardware with customised Nook e-reader software, making it easier for users to download and read eBooks, magazines and newspapers.

Vodafone admits that government authorities in some countries have direct access to its network

Vodafone has published its first Law Enforcement Disclosure report, which explains how the company responds to official requests for assistance in 29 countries.

Not only is it Vodafone’s first such report, it’s also thought to be the first of its kind published anywhere in the world.
