Isis, the US-based mobile commerce venture set up by AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, has chosen Gemalto to provide much of the scheme’s security infrastructure. Gemalto’s Trusted Service Manager solution will be used to secure the mobile commerce platform.
Ryan Hughes, Chief Marketing Officer of Isis, said “We selected Gemalto for its long-standing relationships with financial institutions and mobile operators, which include experience in securely provisioning services over the air and issuing sensitive financial information to the consumer. Gemalto’s dedication to security is unmatched in the industry and will provide the Isis Mobile Commerce Platform with the necessary infrastructure to ensure consumer and merchant confidence in the Isis Mobile Wallet.”
Isis will offer NFC contactless payments via mobile phones and will also be able to incorporate loyalty cards and coupons.
Earlier this year we spoke to Gemalto’s Howard Berg and Naomi Lurie for an in-depth explanation of mobile financial services. You can listen to the full programme on our website, via iTunes or by downloading the MP3 file. |
