There are a lot of appeals going on at the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal. Vodafone and Everything Everywhere say Ofcom’s cut their mobile termination rates by too much, while Three UK and BT say the rates haven’t been cut enough.
Ofcom cut MTRs from April this year. (These are the wholesale charges paid by mobile operators when connecting calls to their rivals). The rates charged by 3 UK, O2, Everything Everywhere and Vodafone have been capped at 2.66p per minute, down from over 4p a minute. Next year the cap is due to fall to 1.7p.
