Wapple, which provides businesses with mobile web technology, has appointed a new new Chief Executive.

Simon Lavers is joining the company as CEO. He’s most recently been a director of advisory and venture capital group Hartnup Group, having previously co-founded digital services company Activ Australia.

In a statement, he said “Wapple has an exceptional technology that delivers results far in advance of other mobile web solutions. This technical edge, combined with clients that include some of the biggest global brands and best recognised blue chip enterprises, puts Wapple is in a near unique position to become the standard mobile web platform. I'm looking forward to being a part of this exciting phase in Wapple’s expansion.”

Company co-founders Rich Holdsworth and Anne Thomas remain in their current roles, as does company chairman John Leftwich,

The company also says it has “closed a significant funding round” by raising capital from existing and new shareholders. This money will be used to help the company move into the USA and to help the existing EMEA business grow.

More than 25,000 users are currently licensed to use Wapple’s Canvas, Architect and Exhibit software products.
