Sony Ericsson strengthens its Sony connection with new Deputy CEO

Sony Ericsson has announced the appointment of Yoshihisa (Bob) Ishida as Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President with effect from 1st September. Meanwhile, Chief Creation Officer Rikko Sakaguchi - who’s been with the joint venture since it was established in 2001 - is leaving to take up a position at Sony Corporation.

Bob Ishida is currently in charge of Platform & Partner Strategy and is President of Sony’s Home Entertainment Business Group. He’ll be based in Sweden, where he’ll have responsibility for Sony Ericsson’s design centre and its product and portfolio development teams. The new job also involves him “taking on a broader executive role to enhance integration and alignment across Sony Ericsson”.

In a statement he said “I am excited about taking up the role of Deputy CEO and EVP at Sony Ericsson. Working closely with Bert Nordberg and the management team we will further strengthen the existing product portfolio by integrating content and services while leveraging the partnership with Sony and other key strategic partners.”
