Sony promises to turn every Android smartphone into a PlayStation Phone

Sony says it’s planning a ‘PlayStation Suite’ that’ll offer gaming on Android smartphones and tablets. Games will be available from a dedicated PlayStation Store for Android devices.

The company also revealed a new 3G-connected and GPS-enabled next-generation PlayStation Portable (PSP) device, which it referred to as NGP. NGP is expected to be available towards the end of 2011. Although the much-rumoured Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – expected to be announced next month – has been touted by many as the ‘PlayStation Phone’, the same could also be said about the NGP.

Update: Sony says PS Suite will work with Android 2.3 and above. The first games, available later this year, will be versions of PlayStation PS one classics.
