Last year, worldwide sales of 'aftermarket' mobile phone accessories – items that aren't included with the handset – generated revenue of $26.5 billion. ABI Research now reckons that figure will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 11.4% to exceed $50 billion in 2015.

Microsoft says the UK's major mobile network operators – Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Three – will be offering Windows Phone 7 devices when the mobile operating system launches later this year. In addition, The Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u will also be selling the phones. However, a UK launch date still hasn't been confirmed.

Charles Dunstone, chairman and co-founder of The Carphone Warehouse, has sold around 10% of his shares in the company. He sold 15 million shares on Friday, giving him just over £35 million. He still owns over 29% of Carphone Warehouse shares.

UK-based e-commerce company Gate2Shop has announced a partnership with mobile payment provider mopay. It means that customers who don't have or don't want to use credit cards and bank accounts can make online payments at Gate2Shop-equipped retailers via their mobile phones. As a result, Gate2Shop partners in over 60 countries can now add mobile payments to their other payment options.
