The total value of the mobile marketing and advertising market worldwide will grow from €3.8 billion (£3.1 billion) last year to €19.7 billion in 2017, according to a research report from Berg Insight.
That’s a compound annual growth rate of 31%.

It has been reported recently that consumer spend via mobile is on the increase this Christmas. Further confirmation has come from research indicating that 20% of the expected £4.6bn of total online shopping will be carried out using smartphones and tablets.
If consumers want to browse, research and purchase via mobile, then is it not something of a surprise that only 7% of adspend in the UK currently goes on mobile?

33% of consumer brands will integrate payment into their mobile apps by 2015, according to a new report from Gartner.
It says the trend will be most noticeable for brands with retail outlets, including the fashion, food & drink, grocery and entertainment sectors.

Two men who owned a marketing company have been fined £440,000 by the UK Information Commissioner’s Office for sending millions of unlawful spam text messages.
It’s the first time the ICO has imposed this type of penalty for a serious breach of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations since it was given these powers in January.

HTC says it’s appointed Benjamin Ho as its new Chief Marketing Officer. He’ll join the company in January and will replace John Wang, the current CMO.
It’s also changing the role of Jason Mackenzie, currently president of global sales and marketing, who will now be focussed on HTC’s global sales strategy.
