Nokia has announced a broadcast TV receiver for mobile phones. It's designed to work with the forthcoming Nokia N8 smartphone and any other Symbian^3 devices that support USB-on-the-go. The accessory should be in the shops later this year with a price tag of around €40 (which isn't far off £40 by the time you've added VAT).
The Nokia Mobile TV Headset connects between the mobile phone and the user's headphones. It includes a DVB-H receiver and is designed to be used with a Music TV app from the Ovi Store, although this will be pre-installed on some devices.
However, as Nokia warns in its announcement, the device will only work in countries that offer a free DVB-H television service... which means UK viewers shouldn't rush to buy it. Nokia says there appear to be working mobile TV services in the Netherlands, Russia, New Delhi and Helsinki.
