Telefonica’s acquisition of voice over IP service Jajah in 2010 has led to the launch of O2’s latest product: an International Calling Card.
The company says it’s cleaning up what it describes as a “scammy” market by offering competitive charges from just 1p per minute with no hidden catches such as connection charges, disconnection charges, maintenance fees or premium rate access numbers.
Gary Booker, O2’s Consumer General Manager, said “The International Calling Card market is notoriously grubby and we know that consumers are crying out for a quality product from a trusted brand. Our new calling card follows the successful launch of our International Favourites bolt on and is part of our strategy to grow our share of the overall international calling market.”
The O2 International Calling Card costs £5 and will be available from over 20,000 retail outlets across the UK, including O2 stores, with distribution via Elite Mobile.
