UK business announces innovative Caller ID service for the visually impaired

UK company ClearCaller has launched an innovative Caller ID service for mobile phone users with a visual impairment. The service is called C-CallerID and it’s been announced with a half-price offer that’ll be available from 21st February.

C-CallerID generates a full-screen image of one or two initial letters from the mobile phone’s contact list. This replaces the standard Caller ID option to show who is making an incoming call.

Simon Marks, the inventor of C-CallerID, said “The low cost for the innovative C-CallerID services means users, who have difficulty reading their phone screens to determine who is calling them, now have the opportunity to continue to use their current phone with easier access to its functionality, rather than buying a new expensive special phone.”

There are two options when purchasing C-CallerID. An annual subscription costs just £5.99 (reduced from £11.99) with contact information stored on the company’s secure website, enabling users to add, update and backup contacts.

Alternatively, a one-off price of £4.99 (reduced from £9.99) customers can upload their contacts list without the option of online access or backup.

Steven Jones, Resource Manager of the RNIB (Royal National Institute for Blind People) Innovation Unit, said “Improving access to mobile technologies for the blind and partially sighted is a major aim of RNIB. The innovative new technology developed by C-Caller will provide clarity for mobile users who have small displays and give those with sight issues the ability to easily recognise the people who call them and those they call.”
