51Degrees.mobi supports web developers with new mobile device detection products

Mobile developers now have two new device detection databases to help them design and build mobile web sites. The services are being offered by 51Degrees.mobi, a Reading-based business that specialises in device detection, web optimisation and mobile analytics solutions.

Both files contain the latest mobile phone types, operating systems and browser configurations. One is a free, entry-level device file to meet basic mobile detection requirements, while the other provides a richer set of parameters including physical screen size, input type and recommended button sizes.

Scott Hanselman, Principal Community Architect for Microsoft’s ASP.NET, said “51Degrees.mobi have an effective solution for ASP.NET developers serious about the mobile web. We’re delighted their new Device Data solution targets Microsoft platforms at launch. We’re glad they are ensuring easy use by developers with the choice of both open source and commercial licensing options.”

51Degrees.mobi’s tools and services are currently used by over 20,000 developers and over 110 million users every month.

51Degrees.mobi was founded by James Rosewell, one of the team here at TheFonecast.com. You can hear an interview with James about 51Degrees.mobi and mobile device detection on our website, via iTunes or by downloading the MP3 file.
