Brightstar completes its acquisition of 20:20 Mobile and confirms the launch of 'Brightstar 20:20'

Mobile technology distributor Brightstar says it’s completed its acquisition of European rival 20:20 Mobile. 20:20 was originally part of the Caudwell Group, along with Phones 4U. Brightstar announced its plans last December after months of industry speculation.

There’s now a new company called Brightstar 20:20, which currently serves more than 3,500 customers in 13 countries. This expands Brightstar’s local presence to 55 countries worldwide.

Marcelo Claure, founder and CEO of Brightstar Corporation, said “Brightstar 20:20 leverages our global distribution and logistics infrastructure, along with our strong supplier relationships, to deliver unmatched innovation and value for mobile operators and retailers in Europe. I want to thank the Brightstar and 20:20 Mobile teams who worked tirelessly to bring this deal to fruition, as well as 20:20 Mobile customers, who have been tremendously supportive of the new endeavor.”

Brightstar had a European distribution partnership with Tech Data until 2012, when it sold its share of the ‘Brightstar Europe’ business. That company was subsequently renamed Tech Data Mobile.
