Virgin Media offers unlimited mobile data on 'pay as you go' tariffs

Virgin Media has created two new ‘pay as you go’ mobile phone tariffs, one with unlimited landline calls and the other with unlimited data and text messages. It follows the creation of unlimited ‘pay monthly’ Virgin Media deals earlier this year.

The ‘Big Data and Texts’ tariff costs £10 for 30 days of unlimited data and 300 text messages, while adding £5 will include unlimited texts. The alternative ‘Big Talk’ tariff is £10 for unlimited calls to any standard UK landline plus 120 minutes of calls to mobiles; an additional £5 includes unlimited SMS text messages.

Jamie Heywood, director of mobile at Virgin Media, said “Unlimited data is a must to get the most out of the amazing smartphones available today. People want to be connected wherever they are so we’ve introduced unlimited data without the ties of a contract. Having introduced unbeatable pay-monthly tariffs earlier this year, we’re now introducing incredible value pay-as-you-go tariffs too which makes Virgin Media the unbeatable choice for unlimited data, whether you’re willing to sign up to a new contract or not.”

Pay as you go customers on the Virgin Media network are currently using twice as mobile data as they did a year ago. In addition, the company says 40% of new ‘pay as you go’ deals involve smartphones - a figure that’s up a fifth from last year.
