UK mobile ad spending up 127% from last year

The amount of money spent on mobile-based advertising in the UK grew by 127% year-on-year to £429.2 million in the first half of 2013.

It means that 14.1% of all digital advertising spend is now targeted at mobile devices, which is nearly double the same period last year.

UK mobile advertising spend is now almost 10% of all internet ad spending

Figures from the Internet Advertising Bureau UK digital ad spend report show that spending on mobile advertising in the UK exceeded half a billion pounds last year. Mobile advertising grew by 148% to £526 million in 2012 from £203.2 million in 2011.

As a result, mobile now accounts for 9.7% of all digital advertising spending.

57 of the top 100 UK brands now have a mobile optimised website

57 of the UK’s top 100 brands now have a mobile-optimised website, according to the Internet Advertising Bureau UK.

That’s a 54% increase from just six months ago, when only 37 of the top 100 brands had optimised their websites for mobile.

New survey finds nearly two-thirds of mobile video is watched at home

A new US-based study from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has found that 63% of digital video watching on mobile phones happens at home, not when the user is ‘on the move’.

A significant portion (36%) of this home-based video watching takes place in a room where a TV, desktop computer or tablet is also available for viewing.

UK mobile ad spending is up 132% from last year

New figures from the UK Internet Advertising Bureau reveal that advertising on the internet and on mobile phones has increased by 12.6% to £2.6 billion in the first half of 2012. That’s a £294 million increase from the first half of 2011.

Digital advertising on mobile devices is up 132% to £181.5 million, driven by increasing smartphone ownership.

Dual Core Smartphones only £7.70pm... whatever that means

Don't sell the steak – sell the sizzle!  That's the mantra of many salespeople. It's all about emphasising the benefits of a product rather than its features. You don't tell people about the 13 megapixel camera when they ask about the new LG smartphone, you tell them it'll capture the first steps of their precious young nephew in pin-sharp accuracy. Or something like that.

Mobile retailers waste over £21.6 million a year on unnecessarily sending mobile phones for repair

Smartphones are now by far and away the communication, payment and information device of choice for consumers and enterprises. Sales are set to overtake those of traditional feature phones this year for the first time. However, the increasing complexity of the devices’ technology means that there’s a lot more that can go wrong, and make it harder for mobile retailers to identify potential problems – and it’s costing them millions per every year.
