8 months ago I moved my main smartphone from Android to Windows Phone. I had entered a simpler world. There were less applications, no tethering option, voice dictation sucked and I couldn’t get a multi-SIM device. But overall I survived.

Then I started travelling more. I moved back to Android a few weeks ago... and what a disappointment.

Informa Telecoms & Media Research to merge with Ovum

Informa plc says it’s going to merge its two telecoms research businesses into a single company by the end of May. Ovum will be joining with Informa Telecoms & Media (ITM) Research in a new company led by current Ovum MD Steve Hotham. The Informa Telecoms & Media brand will then be dropped.

The merged Ovum company will employ 275 staff and is expected to benefit from a multi-million pound investment programme, including a new online delivery platform to house all its research.

Steve Hotham said “We are experiencing a time of tremendous change in the telecoms, IT and media sectors, with convergence reshaping markets and creating major new business opportunities and challenges. Our customers need a research firm with deep insight into each of these markets that can provide a singular, inter-connected view on industry transformation, future trends and the impact on their businesses. By combining Ovum and ITM Research, we are assembling a unique team of readily accessible analysts, offering a comprehensive portfolio of research, data products and consulting services across telecoms, media and IT.”
