Tesco Mobile adds almost 300,000 UK customers in six months

Tesco plc has published its half-yearly results, which include details of its Tesco Mobile virtual mobile network in the UK.

The company notes that the number of 'pay monthly' mobile customers has grown at around 25,000 per month to reach a total of over 160,000 subscribers. Specialist 'Phone Shops' are credited with helping this growth; Tesco now has 143 of these, having added 38 in the last half-year – and with an additional 50 expected to open in the next six months.

Overall, Tesco Mobile has approaching 2.3 million customers, an increase of almost 300,000 since the end of February.
