Tesco says it’s stopped working on its Hudl-branded smartphone so that it can concentrate on tablets.
Earlier this year the retailer revealed plans to build on the success of its Hudl tablet with a smartphone launch in 2014.

Amazon’s Fire smartphone will launch exclusively on O2 in the UK this month, having seen USA sales begin in June.
The phone, which boasts a 4.7-inch HD display and a 13 megapixel camera, runs Amazon’s own version of Android on a quad-core 2.2 GHz processor.

Over 5,500 jobs at risk
UK mobile phone specialist Phones 4u and a number of its associated businesses - including MVNO Life Mobile - have gone into administration today.
The company says it follows the decisions of Vodafone and then EE not to renew their network agreements, which represented over 90% of all connections it made.

A new study from mobile marketing and analytics firm Localytics shows that Apple’s most popular mobile phone is currently the iPhone 5, not the iPhone 5c or 5s that followed it.
Similarly, the most-seen Apple tablet is the iPad 2, which was released in 2011.
