Telecoms regulator Ofcom is warning consumers to check they aren’t owed money when they switch to a new communications provider. It estimates at least £10 million has been unclaimed in the past two years; that's around £5 for every customers who's switched to a different landline, mobile, broadband or pay TV provider.

Virgin Media's online and mobile TV player appears to have moved out of beta. Massachusetts-based SeaChange International has announced that the Virgin Media Player is now live and using SeaChange's multi-screen technology.

Complaints about a TV ad for Doro mobile phones have been upheld by the UK's Advertising Standards Authority. The advertisement showed a demonstration of a Doro handset and described the benefits of Doro big-button phones, ending "Doro mobile phones, brilliantly simple. Only available from Orange, from your local store or online. Find out more at doro.co.uk/easy."

Research company comScore has published a survey comparing mobile usage and behaviour in Japan, the United States and Europe. It found significant differences between the three regions, with almost twice as many Japanese mobile users using their mobiles to go online (browsing, accessing applications or downloading content) as European users.

Marketing intelligence company comScore says 2.7 million people in the UK now watch video on mobile devices, up 75% from July last year. Overall, in all five European countries measured - the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy – the total number of people watching video on mobile devices has increased by 66% in the past year to 12.1 million consumers.
