Earlier this week Qualcomm announced a new quad-core Snapdragon chipset for next-generation tablets and mobile computing devices. The flagship chipset - the APQ8064 based on the 'Krait' micro-architecture code - will achieve speeds of up to 2.5GHz per core.
It's expected to offer 12-times the available performance as well as 75% lower power than the first generation of Snapdragon processors.

Qualcomm is currently working on a type of peer-to-peer wireless technology that'll be demonstrated next week at the GSMA Mobile World Congress.
The service, called FlashLinq, enables mobile devices to discover each other automatically and and to communicate with each other at broadband-like speeds without needing any infrastructure. A trial with SK Telecom in South Korea is currently planned.

Mobile technology company Qualcomm has announced record figures for the first quarter of its 2011 financial year.
Revenue was up 25% year-on-year to $3.35 billion, while net income was up 39% year-on-year for the quarter to $1.17 billion.

ChaCha – a US-based service that answers questions sent via SMS text, online, Twitter, voice, Facebook and mobile apps – has just picked up $3 million of new funding that includes $900,000 from Qualcomm Ventures.
In total, the company has now raised approximately $75 million.
