WhatsApp promises voice calls are coming to its messaging app

Messaging service WhatsApp, which is due to become part of Facebook, says it’s working to add voice calls to its mobile application.

The new service would be seen as a challenger to existing VoIP services such as Skype and Viber as well as a threat to network operator revenue.

Cellebrite adds mobile malware diagnostics to its in-store fault detection service

Cellebrite, which is best known to mobile phone retailers for its smartphone content transfer and fault diagnosis tool, is now adding new diagnostic tools to help identify and eradicate mobile malware.

It’s partnering with security specialist Webroot to integrate Webroot’s Mobile App Reputation Service and URL Classification Service, which has a database that contains millions of mobile application and website anti-malware signatures.

Yota announces new smartphone with a touch screen on each side

Yota Devices, which was showing a dual-screen Android smartphone at Mobile World Congress last year, has unveiled its new YotaPhone today.

The new phone has larger screens than last year's model and has added touch-control to the e-ink side, offering more interactivity. It means users can receive notifications when the main screen is off - and can then respond to them.
