Sony Corporation says it’s completed the transaction to acquire the other half of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications; a 50% stake that was owned by Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson.
It means Sony Ericsson is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony.

Facebook’s certainly had its share of privacy concerns – but last week the social network revealed plans to go public in a very different way. It formally announced its intention to launch on the stock market; what is known in the USA as an Initial Public Offering. The IPO is expected to raise around $5 billion, although that’ll just be a fraction of the total (and as yet undisclosed) value of the company.

Sony Corporation has announced that Kazuo Hirai will become the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer from 1st April 2012. The appointment has been rumoured for several weeks.
Sir Howard Stringer, who currently holds the roles of company Chairman, CEO and President, will become Chairman of the Board of Directors in June. He’ll replace Yotaro Kobayashi, who is retiring.
