Strategy Analytics says its recent reports predict that LTE (4G) will account for 50% of all mobile connections in the USA by end of 2014.
That’s expected to increase to 79% by the end of 2018.

Juniper Research has published a new report that shows annual retail payments on mobile handsets and tablets are expected to reach $707 billion (£430 billion) worldwide by 2018.
This means mobile retail spending will account for 30% of all online purchases in 2018, compared with the $182 billion (15% of e-retail) spent last year.

Mobile internet optimisation specialist Flash Networks has acquired rival Mobixell Networks.
Flash Networks works with mobile networks including Orange, SingTel, MTS, T-Mobile, SK Telecom and Telekom Austria, while Mobixell’s clients include Verizon, Vodafone, Bharti, Orange, XLcom, TIM and Telefonica.
