Announces smart watch and combined hotspot/projector device

The newly-independent ZTE Mobile Devices division has used this week’s International CES electronics show to reveal a range of mobile-related equipment.

New smartphones from the company include the flagship ZTE Grand S II, which offers voice recognition unlocking and voice-activated photography.

Big-button Cat B100 rugged mobile phone launches at CES

Bullitt Mobile, which produces tough mobile phones and accessories under the Cat brand, has revealed the rugged Cat B100 handset at this year’s International CES show in the USA.

The B100 is a one-piece feature phone that’s protected to IP67 (dust/water) and Military Standard 810G. It has larger buttons that can be used when wearing gloves, a noise-cancelling microphone and up to 10 hours talk time.

BlackBerry begins legal action against 'Typo' keyboard case for iPhone

The Typo keyboard, which combines a protective case with a Bluetooth-connected QWERTY keyboard for iPhone devices, is being threatened by legal action from BlackBerry.

US TV personality Ryan Seacrest and entrepreneur Laurence Hallier founded Typo Products last year after almost two years of product development. Their first Typo keyboard case, designed for the iPhone 5 and 5S, is due to start shipping this month.

Samsung reveals the Android-powered Galaxy Camera 2

Samsung is using next week’s CES 2014 electronics show in Las Vegas to reveal the Galaxy Camera 2, a successor to its Android-powered camera of 2012.

It’s equipped with a 16.3 megapixel sensor and a 21x optical zoom, while processing power is provided by a 1.6 GHz quad-core chip supported by 2GB of RAM.

ZTE turns its mobile operations into an independent unit

Chinese telecoms equipment manufacturer ZTE Corporation has announced a number of organisational changes that are designed to “focus the company on key strategic operations and high-growth business opportunities”.

It says its three key businesses - operators, mobile devices and enterprise - will receive more resources this year, with the company also targeting the emerging market segments of metropolitan public IT systems, new energy technology and the mobile internet.
