Financial services businesses now need to record mobile phone calls

From this week, the UK’s Financial Services Authority requires mobile phone conversations and text messages to be recorded by certain regulated financial organisations.

In addition, these firms will need to take ‘reasonable steps’ to make sure employees don’t conduct any regulated business on private mobiles.

New O2 trial lets mobile customers make VoIP calls

O2 UK has announced plans to test a new service called O2 Connect. A number of consumer and business customers, along with attendees at Wired 2011, will be invited to join the trial.

O2 Connect will let customers with an iPhone or Android smartphone make UK calls and send text messages over WiFi using their regular mobile number.

New strategy and online identity for mBlox

Mobile consumer interaction and payment specialist mBlox has revealed a new vision and corporate identity.

It’s broadened its previous position as the “world’s largest mobile transaction network” to include real-time campaign analysis, including information about a consumer’s location and mobile device.

India caps mobile text messages

India’s millions of mobile phone subscribers have won relief from a growing nuisance on the subcontinent - unsolicited text messages. The crackdown by regulators targets the world’s fastest-growing mobile phone market.

From remote villages to crowded metros, the number of mobile phones in India has grown exponentially to more than 850 million in just over a decade.
