Facebook has reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2013, with revenue up 60% year-on-year to $2.02 billion and net income increasing to $425 million.
The social network’s user base is increasing; daily active users for September 2013 were 728 million people (up 25% year-on-year) and monthly active users were up 18% to 1.19 billion.

Launching the BlackBerry BBM messaging and social networking application for Android and Apple iOS devices has resulted in more than 20 million new users joining the service, pushing the total number of monthly active BBM users to over 80 million people.
In fact, the Android and iPhone apps had more than 10 million downloads in the first 24 hours of their official release.

Monthly mobile users up 51% from last year
Facebook has reported results for the second quarter of its financial year. Revenue was up 53% year-on-year to $1.81 billion (£1.18 billion), while the Q2 2012 loss was now a $333 million profit.
88% of total revenue ($1.6 billion) was from advertising, with around 41% of this figure coming from mobile ads.

The latest Simmons Connect panel from Experian Marketing Services has shown that the average smartphone user in the USA spends 58 minutes on their device every day.
Just over a quarter of this time (26%) is spent talking and another 20% sending text messages.

The HTC First smartphone, which is embedded with the Facebook Home application, looks unlikely to be seen in the UK.
There are also reports that sales of the device in the USA are being discontinued by the AT&T network.
